New Orleans Muffuletta
A round Italian loaf holds layers of salami, ham, mortadella, and provolone, with olive salad, roasted peppers, and pepperoncini.
Serves 4
Directions
Open the split loaf and remove a little soft bread from each half, leaving a sturdy shell for the filling.
Brush the cut sides with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano. Spread the olive salad over the bottom half.
Layer on the salami, ham, mortadella, and provolone. Drain the roasted peppers and pepperoncini and arrange them on top.
Close the loaf, press gently, and wrap snugly. Let stand for 10 minutes so the filling holds together.
Unwrap and cut into wedges with a serrated knife, holding the top steady. Serve, or refrigerate the wrapped loaf until needed.
